6/7th March 2010

Shaw HouseEarl Rivers' Regiment of Foote invites members of The Sealed Knot to our annual spring training weekend in Newbury.

On Saturday afternoon we will be at Shaw House, an Elizabethan manor house, for a drill and living history display, that will develop into a small skirmish if we have sufficient people. You will be able to visit the house, free of charge, but as hobnails will damage the floor, either bring desert boots.

On Sunday we have arranged a trip to Snelsmore Common with the local ranger, cutting and building gabions and hurdles. If that isn’t your cup of tea, you are welcome to stay on the camp site and practice some more drill, although there won’t be any powder available.

We have overnight camping in a field just below Donnington Castle (which is a short drive from both Shaw House and Snelsmore Common) and there are two pubs within easy walking distance.
